Toppy Web Patch

This page is to distribute a patch (that I wrote) to the ToppyWeb program that John Stevens wrote (See Toppy Web Home )

ToppyWeb is a program that allows you to use a Web interface to control at Topfield PVR (Personal Video Recorder). Essentially ToppyWeb allows you to program your VCR over the internet.

The files in the .zip file fix a few bugs I found in ToppyWeb 3.3.4 and also introduce a couple of new features.

The main new feature is that I have implemented a FTP button that allows you to FTP files from toppy or rec servers to the local machine where the browser is running. Up untill now you could only move the files from folder to folder on your toppy. But now you can sit miles away and FTP files from your toppy to your local PC with a click of a button.

The functionality works by just creating a FTP URL to the file on the FTP server and putting this URL on a button.

This functionality does not appear to work in Interenet Explorer ver 6 unless you allow anonymous connections to your FTP server. The inabliity for it work with IE6 would appear to be due to how it deals with requests for files on a password protected FTP site. It does work with IE 7 and Mozilla Firefox and these browsers prompt for a user name and password and then serve up the file IE 6 just stops when you request FTP of a file from a password protected FTP server using a FTP URL.

I have also fixed a few other bugs I found:

The changes are implemented by modifications to these three files from the v3.3.4 release

Download a patch to patch your version 3.3.4 to version 3.3.5(ttguy): toppy_web_patch.zip

Download the full 3.3.5(ttguy) version: toppyweb.v3.3.5_ttguy.zip

I have tested these changes with IE7 and IE6 and Firefox.
I am running off an XP machine.
I run Abyss Web server and FTP server for Topfield ver1.18
I run a FileZilla Rec server and the code works with the Rec server too.
My PHP is ver 5.2.8
